Investing in a Great Cause: ScotiaMcLeod Sidney

Within the small community of Sidney you will find the office of the financial advisors of ScotiaMcLeod, who have a strong relationship with the Saanich Peninsula Hospital Foundation. Although this sub-branch of ScotiaMcLeod Victoria may appear small, it is a major event sponsor, and has been since 2006. Chuck McNaughton and his partners make individual contributions to the Foundation, but Chuck states “it is our clients who provide the most for the hospital.”

As a two-event sponsor, ScotiaMcLeod participated in both the 2011 SPHF Golf Tournament and the Fall Gala. Since Chuck is a visible part of the community, his clients appreciate the fact that he is associated with a great cause and are willing to help contribute to their community hospital. However, Chuck is quick to point out that ScotiaMcLeod does not solicit their clients in any way. “We are merely here to facilitate donations and provide information so our clients can act on their philanthropic impulses”, he says.

The relationship between the Foundation and ScotiaMcLeod began as a business partnership. Chuck and his partners were there to assist with the investments of the Foundation. With the initial partnership evolving into a much more significant one, the community has benefited greatly.

When asked why he supports Saanich Peninsula Hospital, his reasoning is simple: “Our clients and their families use the hospital. We want to support a great cause and allow great medical care for the Peninsula.”

It is truly remarkable what Chuck and his partners have done with their support over the years. Their continued involvement in the community gives patients at SPH access to excellent care. Chuck says the best thing about helping the Foundation is the fact “you can see the contributions. You can walk into the new chapel, or see a CT Scanner and you know it is helping patients.”
