Riders of all ages are encouraged to join this fun, family-friendly community bike ride along the Lochside Trail to raise funds for our Palliative Care Unit.
This family-friendly event is a bike ride rather than a race! All riders will be provided with a route map with suggested stops and destinations marked. Ride as far as you choose towards Sidney, then return to the start (or get someone to pick you up in Sidney!)
Set a fundraising target and collect pledges online – there is a prize of a 2 night stay in Ucluelet for the rider who collects the most fundraising pledges!
Join us to celebrate Denis, a passionate cycling advocate, and help us make it our most successful ride ever!
Check-in starts at 8:00 am: sign-in, sign a waiver form and collect your route map. The ride commences at 9:00 am.
Denis Muloin managed the Russ Hay’s bike store in Sidney from 1984 until 2004 when he was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Denis spent his final days surrounded by family and friends at Saanich Peninsula Hospital. It was here that he and his family were introduced to the Palliative Care Program.
As a result of the wonderful care and support Denis and his family received, Mike Clermont of Russ Hay’s and Karen Morgan of the Saanich Peninsula Hospital and Healthcare Foundation wanted to organize an annual cycling event in memory of Denis while also acknowledging the amazing work that the Saanich Peninsula Hospital Palliative Care Program does for this community.
