Around 10 a.m. on Sunday May 15th, 2022, Lucas entered the water at Mill Bay. The rain was falling, but that was no concern. There was a little breeze and that could have been a greater concern, however his escort boats (provided by Frank White’s Dive Store) were on hand, and they safely conducted him across the waters. There were a few curious boaters, but no one was a threat to Lucas’s safety.

A small crowd gathered on the beach at Deep cove, and most were almost as wet at Lucas, but nothing was going to deter them from welcoming him and making sure he had a good reception. Donors were sending money as he swam and when the final amount was realised, it totalled $42,160! A special thank you to the SPH Auxiliary for their generous donation.

Lucas, words cannot express our admiration of you for your contribution to the well being of residents in Long-term Care. Thank you is inadequate, but we will risk that by saying…

THANK YOU LUCAS.
