In 2021 we asked our donors to help us replace our aging X-ray machine. And thanks to our amazing donors, our hospital’s X-ray room has recently been upgraded with state-of-the-art imaging technology!
Our Medical Radiological Technologists (MRTs) are thrilled with the enhancements, including automated movement that allows quick positioning and rotation of the X-ray tube to capture images in various positions. This speed and ease-of-use made for a considerable monthly increase in imaging.

The new X-ray table has a large detector built-in for crisp images with less radiation exposure. Plus, with the orthopedics component, Medical Imaging at SPH can now take X-rays for full spine, recumbent and standing leg length, and get even better images of weight-bearing knees and ankles–our surgical services team love this!
We also have a ceiling-mounted patient lift, hover mat transfer space, and hallway access for stretchers. This all means we’re able to provide even better care and safety for our patients regardless of their mobility.
With the addition of our upgraded X-ray room we can now offer virtually all required medical imaging right here at our local hospital for Peninsula and Gulf Island residents, and it’s all thanks to our incredible donors.
